To the Duffy Books in Homes Team
A big thank you for your continued support by way of free books for all our children. We had a fun assembly with our Duffy Books HERO Adrian ‘Showtime’ Boyd earlier this week. The children and staff were thoroughly entertained by him. We really appreciate the time and effort everyone puts into the running of this special programme.
Thanks again from all of us

| 23/06/2016 | | Duffy Theatre Rolls On | The two Duffy Theatre teams are continuing to make a splash with their show, ‘Duffy’s Time Travel Mission’ through-out New Zealand. Having toured through the South Island in the first term, our teams headed back to Auckland in the school holidays for The Stage of Origin, Duffy’s big fundraiser this year that featured Rugby League and Rugby Union stars battling it out on stage. Our actors were front and centre for two of the challenges.
First up, Sonny, Sye and Tavita lead our contestants in a game called ‘Action Replay’ where they acted out a very physical scene and the players could watch but not hear what was happening and then make up the dialogue, hilarity ensued with Albert Vete from the Warriors joined by All Blacks Liam Messam and Jerome Kaino to play out the scene. The second Duffy Theatre challenge saw Ngahiriwa and Production Manager David take the stage and force the teams into weird and wonderful shapes in a game of ‘Living Scenery’ where the players created every prop that the actors needed including a Jacuzzi, a bus and even a massage chair! It was also great to have one of Duffy Theatre’s major sponsors in Fleet Partners there on the night to take in the hilarious show.
Both our teams are now back on the road for Term 2’s shows with the West Coast and East Coast of the North Island being covered as well as centres in between. For school supporters that want to catch the show, get in touch with your local school to see when the team will be in your area and head along. This year’s show has been getting great feedback from schools and it’s great to know Duffy kids are leaving to show with a renewed excitement for reading stories.
“Real actors, real talent, real real good, very lucky to have this group together at our kura, very talented bunch.”
- Hatea-a-Rangi School, East Coast.
“Having performers who tap right into the worlds of our students - the cultural alignment, the language and identity were all excellent!”
- Panama Road School, Auckland.
Our acting team are able to share a love of reading with Duffy kids all over New Zealand through theatre thanks to Fleet Partners and The Mazda Foundation, keep an eye out for the Duffy cars and say hi to the team, they will always be keen to share what they do with you.
